This is put between the vacuum cleaner unit and where the bulky, or fine particled debris, or product is being picked from, to prevent the vacuum filter becoming clogged such as on a dust extractor application.

When vacuuming up moderate amounts of wet debris, it can be safely deposited in here, before it gets to the vacuum cleaner.
